Doing It For Khalia!
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Martina grandmother of Khalia whom I am fundraising for...
On April 18, 2022, at approximately 9:04 PM, my family and I received a call that shook our whole world. Khalia was on her way home when struck by a drunk driver on an (uninsured) motorcycle who so carelessly could’ve taken the most precious thing away from us. As a result of this accident, Khalia has experienced a terrible brain injury and symptoms resulting from that not even doctors can fully explain. She has an amazing medical team onboard that is doing everything that they can to get her back to the Khalia we all once knew. At this moment, she is totally dependent upon her parents and family for day to day care and necessities. The young independent woman who was finishing her senior year and getting ready for college is not here at the moment but we are praying for a miracle and to get our girl back. Unfortunately, with trauma comes appointments that she cannot take herself to, resulting in her parents and family having to miss work and many medical bills that are quickly piling up.
Family, friends and the community have reached out to the Cook family asking, How can they help?
With the permission of Khalia’s family, we have set up this page to help alleviate some of the Cook family's stress so they can focus on Khalia during this most difficult time. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and makes us all proud to be a part of this community. All donations will be transferred directly to Shawnda and Reginald Cook (Khalia’s parents). We are all in this together. We are doing it for Khalia!
