Doing it for Decky
A Walk in Memory of My Dad – Supporting the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre
Dear friends and family,
Last year, my father, Declan Bingham (Decky), passed away at the age of 57 after a swift and brutal battle with cancer. He is deeply missed by all who knew him. A dedicated nurse for over 30 years and a passionate sportsperson, Decky spent much of his life coaching and supporting sports clubs in his beloved Ardee, as well as in Dublin. He also was a devoted dad, and left five children and two grandkids to carry his memories forward. He is survived by his loving wife Sinead.
The diagnosis came as a sudden shock, both to my dad and to us, his family. During this incredibly difficult time, Decky received invaluable support from the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre in Drogheda. This amazing organization provides a wide range of services and support to people affected by cancer, and my dad often spoke of how much the Centre’s assistance meant to him during his illness.
Before his diagnosis, my dad had been preparing to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain with his longtime friend, Hugh. Sadly, cancer took that dream from him. In honor of his memory, I am committing to walking the Camino in his place. From March 25th to 29th – the anniversary of his passing – I will walk 110 km to commemorate my dad and raise much-needed funds for the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.
I would be incredibly grateful if you would join me in supporting this cause. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference and directly benefit the Centre’s vital work for families affected by cancer.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. Your support means the world to me and my family.
Warm regards,
Sam Bingham
