Doing a run(s).

I've signed up to humiliate myself at the Great Manchester Run half marathon (26th September) and the Manchester Marathon (10th October) and I need your cold hard cash to make it worthwhile. I know, I'm an idiot.

The beneficiary of my downfall will be an amazing charity called Max Appeal.

Max Appeal provides support and information for children, adults, and their families affected by 22q11 Deletion Syndrome (DS), also named Di George Syndrome and Velo Cardio Facial Syndrome. Roughly 1 in 4,000 children are born with 22q11 Deletion Syndrome and symptoms can range from fatal heart defects, catastrophic immune deficiency, and severe learning difficulties to mild behavioural problems and speech and language issues. It is a multi-system disorder and the greatest known genetic risk factor for schizophrenia.

For those who don't know, my son Julian was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11 Deletion Syndrome) shortly after he was born. So far, we have been incredibly lucky, as Julian hasn't had any of the severe life-threatening symptoms, but having been part of the Max Appeal family for the last 5 years, it is heartbreaking learning about the children who haven't been as lucky.

By running both the Great Manchester Run and the Manchester Marathon, I'm hoping to raise as much as possible to help this fantastic cause.

Can you sponsor me, please?

Cheers!
