Hi everyone, welcome to our pack!
If you follow our journey on Instagram or Facebook (@dogsonquad), you know us as the unconventional rescue family navigating the dirt roads, beaches, and hills of the Greek island of Kos on a quad bike. You see the sandy paws, the wind in their fur, and the pure, unfiltered joy of dogs living their best possible lives.
What social media only captures in brief moments, however, is the long, challenging journey behind every single wagging tail.
From Forgotten Strays to Quad Co-Pilots
Every one of our 6 rescue dogs carries a history. Many of them were found abandoned on the streets of Kos, left behind as puppies, or struggling to survive alone without food, water, or shelter.
Instead of letting them face that fate, we opened our hearts and home, turning our space into a permanent sanctuary. Along with our dogs, our family includes over 30 rescue cats—stray cats from the island that we feed, sterilize, medicate, and care for every single day.
For our dogs, the quad bike isn't a gimmick; it is their gateway to freedom. It allows a large pack of former strays to explore nature safely, run freely on quiet beaches, and regain trust in people and the world.
The Reality Behind the Scenes
Running an independent rescue and home sanctuary on a Greek island is a 24/7 labor of love, but the financial strain is relentless.
We do not receive institutional subsidies or large organization funding. Everything comes directly from our personal dedication. In Greece, stray animal welfare faces massive challenges, from severe parasite-borne diseases (like Leishmania and tick fever) to a constant influx of abandoned litters.
Right now, our responsibilities and costs have reached a critical level:
- Daily Sustenance: Providing high-quality food, vital nutrition, and clean water daily for 6 dogs and more than 30 cats.
- Intensive & Senior Medical Care: Several of our rescues are aging and require specialized veterinary care. Right now, our sweet senior Bella is fighting severe complications from sudden-onset diabetes and undergoing critical diagnostics, requiring daily insulin, ongoing blood work, and specialized treatments.
- Preventative Health & Parasite Control: Monthly flea, tick, and worming treatments are non-negotiable in the Greek climate to prevent deadly diseases, alongside annual vaccinations and regular blood panels.
- Sterilization & Street Animal Support: Continuously sterilizing island cats to break the heartbreaking cycle of homeless litters.
How You Can Help Keep Our Pack Moving
We want to keep providing safety, top medical treatment, and joyful quad adventures to these animals for the rest of their natural lives. We cannot do this alone anymore.
By contributing to this fund, you directly provide:
- Life-saving medication, insulin, and emergency veterinary visits
- Sacks of nutritious food for both our canine pack and the colony of cats
- Essential preventative treatments and hygiene care
- Safe transport equipment so our rescues can continue exploring safely
No amount is too small. A donation of €5 feeds a rescue dog for several days; €25 covers critical parasite prevention; €50 contributes directly to vital blood work and clinical medication.
If you are unable to donate right now, sharing this GoFundMe with your network, dog-loving communities, and friends makes a massive difference.
