Update 5/30/2025:
Both dogs are home from the hospital and doing well! Atlas has lost his vision, and he has weakness in his hind legs. But even if these medical issues don't fully resolve, we're so grateful he's alive! Thank you so much to everyone for helping cover their medical bills!
Update from 5/28/2025:
Atlas and Nyx are still in the animal hospital and both are still on oxygen, but we’re hopeful they’ll be able to start weaning off it soon.
Nyx is doing better—she’s wagging her tail and already getting irritated with her breathing tube, which is actually a great sign. Both of their carbon monoxide levels have come down, which is a huge relief.
Atlas is having a tougher time. He’s showing signs of neurological issues—he can crawl but struggles to stand, and he’s not responding normally to visual cues. There’s a possibility he may be blind. Right now, it’s just a matter of waiting and seeing how things progress.
We’re holding onto hope and taking it one hour at a time. Hoping they’ll both be strong enough to come home soon.

My name is Lauren Andrews, and I'm creating this gofundme to help my next door neighbor, Lindsay Paxton, cover the vet bills for her two dogs following a devastating house fire today. The fire started in the kitchen while our neighbor was at work. Her dogs were kenneled in the kitchen. It took a long time before firefighters were able to locate the dogs. They were both revived on oxygen and then taken to a local animal hospital before being transferred to a larger animal hospital in SLC. They are both receiving care, but their bills are already $4,000 in the first day.
Our neighbor is a single mom. She is going to have to rebuild her home, but she and her kids are safe, she has family to stay with, and she is working with her insurance on the rest. But her insurance has not yet confirmed if they will help at all with these vet bills, and right now her dogs' health and recovery is her main worry. All money received will be given to Lindsay directly to manage (she is added on this gofundme to receive the funds directly), and she plans to use the money to pay for veterinary expenses for her dogs following this house fire. Please help if you can!
