Dear Friends,
We are reaching out to help with our fundraising efforts for the care and spay/neuter of hundreds of dogs and cats in the Dominican Republic.
As some of you may know, for several years, we have been working with a rescue in the Dominican Republic (called Wild Ranch SOS – with charitable status in the DR – WRS for short), run by an incredible woman named Rosella. The organization cares for, rehabilitates and adopts out hundreds of dogs and cats – many with special needs - as well as running spay/neuter clinics in the area.
With the onset of COVID-19, WRS’s funding has all but ceased and they are no longer able to send animals to Canada for adoption (which was once one of the ways many of the animals were able to be placed). We continue to personally donate to WRS (and Arlene Devine tutors in order to fund WRS), but with the need being so great, it is impossible to ensure for the ongoing welfare of the animals under WRS’s care. In the past years, Arlene and Donny were able to help WRS directly on the ground (feeding and caring for animals etc.) but this year they will be unable to travel to the DR.
Dogs like Pituffo (who you can see in his before and after photos above, who was found sick and abandoned at a bus stop). Or cats like Lolita, who is partially blind and missing one eye, desperately need our help (see their photos below).
We are hoping to raise enough funds to sustain WRS in the short term while we determine how we can create the structure here in Canada (in terms of charitable status etc.) to be able to help the many dogs and cats in need in the Dominican Republic.
We truly appreciate your willingness to help save the lives of animals like Pituffo and Lolita!
With gratitude,
The Devine family
