Dog Lovers Unite - Help Give Obi a Chance

Hello friends! My name is Toni and I’m raising funds on behalf of my dear friends, Sharon and Zeke.

For anyone who’s ever loved an animal or experienced the excruciating pain of losing one, it’s easy to understand why any parent would go above and beyond without hesitation to help fight for their fur baby in any, but especially the most dire of situations.

Two days ago, instead of celebrating sweet Obi’s birthday, they spent time frantically searching for an emergency veterinary clinic with space to take him, which given our state’s severe shortage of staff and available clinic space was a daunting undertaking.

With Obi too weak and too fragile and with a temperature that soared up to 104 degrees, they refused to give up. They continued calling into the night until they found one, ultimately crossing THREE counties at midnight to get him seen and the care he needed.

Obi was admitted, tested, x-rayed, ultimately diagnosed with mild Pneumonia, and sent home with meds and hope that this would improve and get him on the path towards mending… Unfortunately this was only Round 1.

As if this wasn’t enough to contend with, Obi has been grappling with IVDD, a painful spinal condition that has negated his ability to navigate the world on four legs. Obi’s bright spirit has made him a poster child for this condition as he’s continued to bring joy and give love, proving that you don’t need use of your back legs to party through life. Obi has shown us all just how fashionable and cute a set of wheels can be!

Sadly Round 2 of this saga did not involve improving symptoms, and after visiting a second emergency clinic, was admitted with severe pneumonia and a declining prognosis. The veterinarian is asking for another 24 - 72 hours with him in clinic.

Going into their second overnight at the animal hospital, tests, IVs, medication, and looking at another few days, the medical bills are piling up. The cost is significant and they’re prepared to keep giving what’s necessary.

Sharon and Zeke are not living unrealistically, but as any parent would, want to fight for their boy and give him everything he deserves. This GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Sharon, Zeke, and Obi in their time of need and to help ease the burden and stress of the bills so they can focus their energy on caring for their sweet fur babe, Obi.
