When my friend told me what caused her house fire I just couldn't stay quiet. Her DOG!!! Her dog caused over $400,000.00 in damages and they don't have any contents or loss of use coverage.
On December 22nd 2019 my friend Ashleigh Farley Layton left her home with 6 year old Kennedy. About 20 minutes after leaving her home, her mom called her that CPI was trying to get a hold of her that her glass break detector was going off. Ashleigh rushed home to meet police, thinking her house was being broken into. Instead she found her home on fire.
Ashleigh ran around back and got her dogs and pet pig out of the home and pulled in a garden hose! Ashleigh stood in the kitchen spraying the water at the second floor ceiling line trying to not let the fire break through to the second floor. As she says "All I was thinking was we had no contents insurance. We cant loose everything we own." Eventually fire fighters arrived and extinguished the fire, But not until after causing over $200K in building damage and over $200K in personal property loss.
The mortgage company holds insurance on the structure but Ashleigh was unable to obtain contents or loss of use coverage. The Mortgage company's insurance sent out a special Cause and Origin investigator.
We were all shocked to find out that Kallie Brooke a 1.5 year old Weimaraner set the home on fire. Shortly after Ashleigh left Kallie put her paws on the flat top stove trying to reach a pan that had steak and cheese grease in it, only to turn on the flat top and ignite the home.
It was a really rough year for Ashleigh and her family. In April 2019 her little old brother passed away due to an undiagnosed medical condition . She handled her brothers autopsy, cremation and memorial.
In May Ashleigh and Her husband of 12 years officially separated.
In June one of Ashleighs Best Friends Sara was in a car accident. Sara lost her baby girl Maddie, age 4. Maddie was Ashleigh's daughter Kennedy's best friend. Ashleigh was at the hospital all night bouncing from room to room with each kid and Sara. She than stayed at Sara's house as each kid was released and stayed taking care of her other two children for 5 days till Sara was released for Maddies funeral.
Ashleigh always takes on more than she should.
In November after reconciling, Ashleigh and her husband again split. This time him leaving her with no financial support.
Ashleigh is a single mom of two, Kennedy 6 and Kayden 14, who has no financial help from the girls father at this time, or since the fire. They lost 80-90% of everything they own.
Although the home will eventually be repaired, she now needs to find an apartment and is still responsible for the mortgage, and paying 2 sets of utilities while the mortgage company's insurance repairs the home. She needs to do this all while still needing to replace bare necessities after giving the girls the best Christmas that she could.
Let help Ashleigh and her girls have a MUCH BETTER 2020 as it couldn't get much worse than 2019....
Thank you to ANYONE who can help. Small amounts add up....PLEASE SHARE!!!
