Dog attack. Help Alysia and Luna pay medical bills.

Alysia is a single mom of a very brave six-year-old boy. A little boy that hauntingly saw his mama and his dog get viciously attacked. The only other adult that could help him did nothing. That adult was the owner of the two dogs attacking the two things he loves most in this world. The owner watched it all unfold and did nothing. The then 5-year-old could do nothing but hopelessly yell, “no, stop, and bad dogs.” Fortunately, he knew the situation was too dangerous for him to help physically, so he stayed far enough away that he was not attacked.

The emotional damage extends beyond what her son experienced. The anxiety felt by Alysia and Luna is palpable when going to a park with other dogs. A once friendly old dog is now cautious of other potential fur friends, and a mama who diligently has to keep her eyes in two places at once or leave her dog at home when she takes her son to a park. Financially, the toll is staggering. Over 30 grand for an ER visit for Alysia, an emergency visit and surgery for Luna, multiple doses of rabies vaccines given to both Luna and Alysia (the attacking dogs were not properly vaccinated). Trying to have the other dog owner take financial responsibility has proven to be next to impossible due to them not having insurance. Lawyers are now telling Alysia she’s better off just paying herself to avoid court costs and potentially never seeing payment because of the other owner's financial status/insurance coverage.

Unfortunately, as her luck may have it, after working over 14 years in one place, she happened to have just left her job and was in between jobs. She only had COBRA insurance with an insane deductible to begin with. A nearly $25,000 emergency room bill. A $1,300 ambulance ride. Each of her five rabies vaccines alone cost $1,752.15 a piece

This irresponsible dog owner had her dogs quarantined for 10 days. As long as they don’t attack anyone for the next year and a half, there can’t be further action taken against her or the animals. She gets no legal discipline. Just a ten-day quarantine of her dogs and a risk that if it happens again, they will take the dogs. Alysia is left with a horrific family event and a financially devastating debt.

Situationally, Luna was let out of her kennel when Alysia had gotten home, and she was taken out front to potty. Her son waited outside for a moment as Luna went potty and Alysia put her things down inside. Alysia suddenly heard Luna whimpering distinctly in pain and her son screaming. Coming back to the door to see two large breed dogs pinning down her whimpering dog and her screaming son horrified right next to them. Pushing her son away for safety and doing what any loving dog mom would do, she tried to save her dog. Another neighbor thankfully heard the commotion and pulled one dog off Alysia's back while she pried the jaws open of the other dog who had bit through Luna's ears and lip. She required over 100 stitches in her chest and legs due to the extent of her injuries/lacerations.

Needless to say, as any human, let alone any single mom would, she needs help. To find it in your heart to donate even just a few dollars would literally save this mama from an immense amount of stress and heartache. A share or continued outreach is also helpful. Large or small, anything helps. Thank you so much for your support!
