Dodgeball.LIVE needs a new computer!
Donation protected
***Update: WOW! The community support has been staggering. Thank you all so much for helping us hit our initial goal! We will leave this campaign running for those of you who wish to support Dodgeball.LIVE further. Funds raised beyond the costs of a new laptop will go towards upgrading our outdated software and tech, and establishing a grant program for events that can't afford streaming & software services.***
When our team met this week, as we usually do to discuss our upcoming tasks, we were saddened by the sudden loss of one of our members.
Yes, when it came time to hear from 'Duane Wysynski Community Spirit Award' recipient, Mitch Janzen, we received some troubling news: "Most of my time this week will be spent disappointing people", he said, a single (totally metaphorical) tear running down his face. We listened intently as he softly explained that our worst fears were true; the humidity at a recent event toasted our streaming rig.
It seemed all the fans, factory resets, and thoughts and prayers in the world wouldn't be enough to bring back the handful of games that had sadly been lost at a recent event.
Nonetheless, the team rallied. We agreed that we could not in good conscience agree to do multiple courts at any future events until we found ourselves a laptop that we thought could put up with the demand that 16hrs of non-stop dodgeball action puts on a machine.
Alas, as accountants tend to do, the one member of our team with a CPA designation informed us that the coffers were not sufficiently stocked to afford such luxuries.
It appeared that our efforts to pay Mitch a small salary, and reimburse commentators from time to time, had inadvertently left us lacking in the dollar department.
We sat for a moment, and thought and thought. "Dodgeball.LIVE needs a new computer if we are going to be able to attend all of our bookings, but we don't want to start selling streams for $8,000-$25,000 like our competitors!" someone exclaimed.
And then the idea hit us, like a Nick Grenier throw straight over the nets and into the face: could the answer possibly be the community itself?
And so, our dear viewers, friends, dodgeball enthusiasts, we turn to you. Would you be willing to chip in to help us continue to offer streams for years to come?
Of course, it wouldn't be like us to profit off of the community without offering something in return, so here is what we propose:
- For every donation of $20 or more, we will gift you a 1 month subscription to dodgeball on Twitch!
- For every donation of $50 or more, we will give you a $25 credit to use for dodgeball.LIVE streaming or Dodgeball Hub software and tournament registration
- For every donation of $100 or more, we will give you free team photos at an event somewhere in the USA or Canada OR free team stats for a game of your choosing
- For every donation of $200 or more, we will give you an ad spot during the tournament stream of your choice (pending organizer approval) keep it classy, folks!
- For every donation of $500 or more, we will get a year of free access to the Dodgeball Hub tournament planning software
- Donations exceeding $1000 will be given streaming sponsor status for one season. This means shoutouts, commentary reads, ad spots, sponsored segments, you name it!
If you can afford to pitch in, we would be eternally grateful. If not, hey, that's okay too, maybe you can pass this gofundme along instead.
