Documentary: J. Brodbeck: Grandfather of Aviation

I am an award winning Producer/Director with over 30 years of experience in narrative and documentary filmmaking. I have a passion for discovering the lesser-known events in history and bringing those stories to life.

One of these stories is about a not so well known, though documented, historical flight that took place in the mid 1860's, when a school
teacher in Fredericksburg, Texas, named Jacob Brodbeck, invented, designed and flew his airplane in an open field just north of San Antonio.

This is a story of personal triumph.  A humble school teacher follows his dream and accomplishes something extraordinary. I
plan to build this documentary based on interviews with living family members, local historians and aviation enthusiasts and experts
that will help bring to light this amazing piece of Aviation History. 

Not only will we tell the story, but we plan to re-build Brodbeck’s original design and actually attempt to fly it.  Yes, you read that right, fly it.
