“Neviano”

This intimate documentary is based in the small town of Neviano, Puglia in the southernmost regions of Italy. For the first time in two decades, the filmmaker’s Nonna Marisa returns to her hometown following the death of her late husband. The film follows the inhabitants of Neviano, spanning all ages. All intertwined or connected in some way, their lives reflect a tightly-bound community and local culture. “Neviano” will reflect a raw depiction of the leisurely-paced and traditional mindset of Southern Italy, based in some of Italy’s most beautiful landscapes and coastal towns.

How can you help?

“Neviano” is set to start in 2025 with a full film crew. However, as a filmmaking student currently in undergrad, some extra funding will be needed for equipment rentals, travel fees and salaries. About the director

Mya Stifani is a young and emerging filmmaker, currently studying Film Production at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, Concordia University. After her films were picked each year for production by an industry-professional jury, she has had the opportunity to direct and produce multiple of her written short films. These films have been recognized and officially selected by festivals like “SHORT-To-The-Point” and screened to the public at different venues. Her next venture, “Neviano” is one that she has been preparing for years. With the mentoring of other filmmakers and professors, she is confident in making her debut into the industry following her graduation.
