Hello, we're a group of people from ghana and germany, all with a love for upcycling and/or filmmaking, and we would love to make a documentary about the amazing upcycling scene in Accra, Ghana!
We think on the on hand it will be a celebration of culture and on the other an eye-opener for many people, who still have a somewhat neocolonial mindset.
For our film, we would like to...
- ...visit Katamanto and portray one of the worlds biggest markets for Upcycling
- ...follow around local upcycling designers to learn about the different struggles but also innovations and solutions
- ... visit a local Fashion Show coinciding with the opening of a creative space
- ...meeting up with the OR-Foundation and other organisations/brands to talk to them about their expertise regarding Upcycling
- ... spend a day at the waste beaches to show the dimensions of waste

To make this project come to life, it takes a lot of organisation and resources from the flights to Accra to the camerawork and equipment etc. - and we need your help! Hey zusammen! Wir sind ein Team junger Designer:innen, Journalist:innen und Filmemacher:innen aus Ghana und Deutschland. Zusammen möchten wir eine Doku zum Thema Upcycling direkt aus der blühenden Upcycling-Szene in Accra, Ghana verwirklichen. Durch den Film wollen wir zeigen, wie vor Ort das durch Fast Fashion entstandene Problem von Massen an Textilmüll bekämpft wird und was wir aus Ghana darüber lernen können, wie aus alten Textilien neue Kleidungsstücke entstehen können.
Für unseren Film möchten wir...
- ...den Katamanto-Markt besuchen, einen der weltweit größten Märkte für den Altkleiderhandel, in dem Second-Hand-Mode upgecycelt und weiterverkauft wird
- ...lokale Designer:innen begleiten und interviewen
- ...eine Fashion Show mit neuen Kleidungsstücken aus altem Textilmüll besuchen
- ...mit Organisationen und Labels wie der OR-Foundation über ihre Expertise hinsichtlich Upcycling sprechen
- ...die Strände besuchen, um das Ausmaß der ökologischen Folgen des Textilmülls aufzuzeigen

Damit wir dieses Projekt verwirklichen können, sind wir auf Deine Hilfe angewiesen.
