Documentary: Cherry trees

Cherry Trees is a documentary tries to answer - Is it possible to settle in a foreign country as a refugee and have a good life when your friends, family and compatriots are at war at home?
At the heart of the film are Ukrainian refugees who, after fleeing war, are now planting seeds of hope in Finland. Among them: a mother who faced an unbearable decision during a missile attack — unable to carry her paralyzed son to shelter, she sought cover herself, and returned to him the moment it was possible. Returned a former sailor working in a university kitchen while helping coordinate aid; a researcher questioning where “home” truly is; and a tight-knit group of women who cook, bake, and organize tirelessly to fund humanitarian efforts back home.
Their stories converge around an unlikely leader—a Finnish university math professor who became a full-time humanitarian. Together, this collective has raised millions, organized aid convoys, built integration programs, and are now working on their most ambitious mission: building 200 schools in Ukraine once the war ends.
Cherry Trees isn’t a war film. It’s a film about what happens after. About how ordinary people—displaced, grieving, and exhausted—still find ways to rebuild, to love, and to believe.
