Doctor’s Week on Kiritimati is a unique opportunity to blend service and adventure, as a dedicated team of medical professionals travels to Christmas Island Lodge to provide essential healthcare services to the local communities. Hosted in the heart of the Republic of Kiribati, this initiative is about giving back to the I-Kiribati people—renowned for their warmth, resilience, and hospitality. Despite limited resources and geographic isolation, the local staff work tirelessly as guides, hosts, cooks, and caretakers, creating unforgettable experiences for visitors from around the world.
Kiritimati Island faces significant healthcare challenges due to its remote location in the central Pacific. Access to specialized medical care, diagnostic equipment, and consistent healthcare supplies is limited, and many residents go without routine checkups, chronic disease management, or dental care. Referrals to off-island specialists are rare and often financially prohibitive. Doctor’s Week aims to bridge these gaps by bringing much-needed medical expertise directly to the community—improving immediate health outcomes and strengthening long-term local care capacity.
100% of funds raised will go directly to support travel expenses for the team of care providers, enabling them to reach Kiritimati and deliver essential healthcare services. Your support will help make a real difference for the I-Kiribati people. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help us bring vital care to this special island community.
