Doctor Becomes Patient
Donation protected
After spending the last ten years taking care of patients as a Chiropractor in Union City, NJ, Robert Robbins now finds himself on receiving the end of medical treatment.
On October 27, 2017, just days before his first wedding anniversary, Robert was diagnosed with Nodular Lymphocyte-Predominant Hodgkin Lymphoma. This is a very rare and aggressive form of Hodgkin
Lymphoma. His initial chemotherapy treatment wasn’t as effective as everyone had hoped. He has completed three different courses of chemo treatment but the cancer was still in his spleen, which was removed, along with part of his pancreas on December 21, 2018. On December 31, 2018 he found out that the cancer had transformed from Nodular Lymphocyte-Predominant Hodgkin Lymphoma to Diffused Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. We are waiting to see what his latest PET Scan results are and then the course of treatment will be decided.
Robert, also known as Dr. Bobby to his patients, is a caring, dedicated chiropractor. Anyone who knows him will tell you he has a kind heart and will do anything to help anyone.
He married the love of his life in November 2016, and had hoped to start a family around their first anniversary. That dream is on hold until he has a clean bill of health.
This once strong man has been weakened by his illness. He has been out of work since August 2018 and will be until after his transplant and recovery. His wife Rebecca has also had to take time off work, often unpaid to care for him. Robert has yet be awarded temporary disability from the State of New Jersey and Rebecca's salary is their only source of income right now.
Donations will help Robert and his wife Rebecca with daily living expenses as well as travel and lodging during treatment and recovery. It will also be used for any out of pocket medical costs that arise.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Robbins
