Empowering Hope: Dr. Becca Marie Hald Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
Doctor Becca Marie Hald transformed the world around her. She served others through simple, everyday acts of kindness, crafting and sewing one-of-a-kind creations, and academic pursuit of knowledge and change. Becca’s calling was to, in her own words, “End stigma and normalize conversation about Mental Health through Education, Empowerment, and Affirmation.”

In January of 2025 she traveled to Sierra Leone in Africa to speak at the International Leadership & Missions Conference in Freetown. She was planning to return to Africa in October to speak again in Sierra Leone and Liberia and equip Africans with Bibles so that they could read God’s Word for themselves and deepen their spiritual understanding. She built relationships and community across cultures and boundaries.

In May of 2024 Becca received her Doctoral degree from George Fox University in Oregon. She was a hungry reader and academic who learned to read Greek and Hebrew so that she could better apply biblical teachings in context. Her doctoral project grew into a non-profit called RAFT, short for “Rise Above the Flood of Tears” with a passion to better care for the mental health needs of leaders and members across the church.

During the COVID pandemic Becca taught herself to sew because she saw a need. Over the next two years she sewed over 2200 custom themed masks to brighten hearts of nurses, friends, family, and anybody else who wanted one. Due to her mask-making she learned to make dresses, bags, wallets, keychains and many other simple crafted reminders of love and kindness. She always gave away freely everything she made.

Becca was a Pastor in the Foursquare Church in Southern California where she lived with her children Drew and Evelyn and her husband of 29 years, Andrew. After both children graduated from High School, Becca and Andrew moved to the Redwoods of West Sonoma County in 2021 and quickly grew to love a new community of friends and being closer to Andrew’s family in Northern California.

On July 10th, 2025 Becca passed away suddenly. This beautiful, powerful, kind soul is home in heaven. Her work here on earth is unfinished.

To honor my wife, Dr. Becca Marie Hald, I can think of no better cause than to support the next generation of students who would seek to continue her work. Please give to support the Dr. Becca Marie Hald Memorial Scholarship, working to promote positive mental health outcomes through practical acts of kindness and care.

Thank you,
Andrew Hald
