Docktoons

I am Scott Keune, Docktoons dock/hoist installation and removal service owner. I suffered a real setback to my business on Sunday, May 29, 2022, while working over the Memorial Holiday Weekend transporting a hoist on Hubbard Lake, Michigan. The day started like any other by checking the weather. With 4-6 mile/hr winds, it looked to be a great day to install and transport more hoists and docks. Unfortunately, the combination of natural elements, a wake to cross and sudden winds out of nowhere caused my hoist and dock transporter to capsize along with the hoist it was carrying in about 30 feet of water just off the west shore. Extensive efforts were made by Bill Olsen of Hubbard Lake Marine along with myself and crew in frigid water temperatures diving repeatedly to find some way to turn the transporter upright. We were not successful. The decision was made to detach the hoist and mark it with flotation markers. The team started to tow the overturned transporter towards shore close to the Marine. With dusk approaching, the word spread and Hubbard Lake residents dropped everything to offer assistance with warm blankets, dry clothes, and engineering ideas. Thankfully, another dock installation crew working on the lake heard the distress and responded immediately. Working into the late evening, my transporter was moved close enough to shore to mark overnight. My transporter was successfully removed from the lake the next morning, but everything I need to run my business has been lost. It’s going to take time to rebuild and 20-25% of my annual income falls in May/June.

 

I want to get my dock/hoist installation and removal business up and running again as soon as possible to serve the Hubbard Lake Community. I have been devastated by this unfortunate accident. I am asking for your help. Please consider contributing to my business. I intend to rebuild and compensate all those who came to my rescue and do the best I can to make it right with the retrieval of the host.
