My grandfather, Marion Emmanuel "Doc" Snider, was a loving husband and father, devoted grandfather and great-grandfather and a proud Korean War veteran and a follower of Jesus Christ.
He was born in 1935 to a family with 11 siblings in Lufkin, Texas and later married Rita Jean Branch to whom he was married for 54 years. He proudly served in the seventh Infantry of the United States Army as a Forward Observer in the Korean War from 1954-1957.
Dock was blessed with four sons, Charles, Jevon, Darren, David and two daughters, Deonna and Denise. He has 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The impact of his life is impossible to measure, he was kind-hearted and incredibly generous. He was Dad and Grandpa to anyone who came near him and made everyone feel like they were simply part of the family.
He had a servant's heart and willing hands to help anyone in need. All of our lives are forever marked by the legacy of love he diligently lived every day of his life. His family is happy that he is home with Jesus but broken hearted as we consider our future without him.
Our grandparents had some outstanding medical bills and funeral costs that the family is trying to help pay so that Grandma can be relieved of the financial burden as she handles the emotional challenges that lie ahead. They have lived modestly for some time on a fixed income and with the loss of her husband she will be in need of financial help during this tragic transition.
What our family needs most is prayer but if you are able we would be very blessed if you decided to help us pay for some of the expenses incurred during this time. We will be making arrangements over the next few days and will decide carefully as a family how best to allocate the funds.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers as we grieve through the loss of an incredible pillar of our family. We place our hope that he is safe in the arms of his Creator and that we will one day see him again.
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
II Corinthians 4:17-18
