Dobby's New Knee's

UPDATE:
So I've now had my first surgery...the hospital said it went well however I did have to stay in an extra day to make sure. The scans now show my leg is straight and working just as it should. I have a way to go yet but things so far are looking up! I came home on 06th November and spent a night with my family but because of my big bouncy brother Digby we've decided it's best I stay with Aunty Helen and Uncle Ash for the first two weeks of recovery to give me time to rest and reset. In 6 weeks time the hospital want me to have my second surgery on my left knee which is essential for me to walk as other dogs do and to be pain free! Thanks so much to all that have donated and shared so far. Please keep sharing my story to help my family pay for the surgeries I so desperately needed!
Hi I'm Dobby I'm about 5 months old (we don't exactly know when my birthday is). I started my life in a scary unsettling place where I wasn't really loved or getting the care a puppy deserves. Until one day in June when a nurse rescued me (she could not resist my cute little nose and pot belly!). Within minutes of meeting me she knew that a puppy like me deserved a better life so took me home where I got to meet my new family. Firstly was their dog Digby...whilst a little scared at first I soon realised this big dope of a dog was my friend and wanted to play (we've been inseparable ever since).
Then I met the rest of the family the big and little one's and of course they all fell in love with me and I became the newest member of the Cartwright Giles clan! My time with them has been a whirlwind of new and exciting adventures all with my big brother Digby by my side!
Everything was going great until July when my family realised something was wrong with my legs and I wasn't walking quite right. They took me to the vets straight away who checked me over and sent me for x-rays. They soon came back to say I was too special a case and referred me to a specialist hospital called movement referrals where they did a full investigation.
They broke the news in August that despite my young age I had developed luxating patella (wonky knee's) in both legs as well as a severe twist in my right femur. They could tell from my scans that I'd been severely malnourished at a young age and this meant my bones just aren't forming as well as they should. Without surgery they told my family by 12months old I'll be in excruciating pain and unable to walk. Surgery was the only option and needs to happen quickly to stop the twist in my right femur getting worse and to stop it also happening in my left leg.
The cost of all these surgery's is a staggering £10,000 and whilst I am insured this will only cover £3,000 towards my surgery meaning my family are left with £7,000 to pay. They realise this is so much money but are determined to help me so are hoping to raise half towards this amount to help fund these operations I so desperately need. Please if you could spare even a pound we would be ever so grateful and I'll be certain to put my knees to good use and live a long, happy and healthy life with my family!
Yours,
Dobby xx
