Do your part with a caring heart 4 Phoenix's heart
Donation protected

My sister Pakou and her husband have tried to conceive for years. With miscarriages and many complications along the way, they are finally blessed with sweet baby Phoenix. Unfortunately, the newly parents were informed that Phoenix has a coarctation aorta of the left ventricle and will have to undergo surgery shortly after birth.
Due to complications during birth, Phoenix was born via cesarean on 5/20/2020. He underwent surgery on 5/29/2020 where access to his heart was made through his ribs in order to fix the narrowing of his aorta. Phoenix was then diagnosed with an atrial septal defect (ASD) which is a hole in the septum, commonly known as "a hole in the heart". This surgery is planned for a later date.
At this time, Phoenix's left lung is not working properly. This makes it extremely hard for him to swallow milk as some milk is passing through other airways. A feeding tube has been placed down his nose and he will continue to be on the feeding tube for an unknown time. Because of this, Phoenix will undergo therapy in the future to help with his vocals. He is slowly trying to swallow a thicker rice mix formula before every tube feeding so he knows how to swallow.
While treatment is usually successful, Phoenix's condition requires careful lifelong follow-up.
As a mother myself, I cannot imagine how overwhelmed all this can be, especially being first-time parents. My sister and her husband has been in San Francisco since 5/18/2020. We want to help lift their financial burden, so that they can focus their strength on Phoenix and helping him through his surgeries and recovery. Even the smallest donation is so large and we so deeply appreciate it! Thank you all so much!
