Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
The last five months have been sinking my entire family. In November 2021, my dad had to be sent to ICU to treat sepsis which caused a stroke. It all started as my nearly 8o-year-old dad was helping paint their humble home. There were some drippings on his leg, and he used paint thinner to remove the paint, which ended up eating at his skin. His diabetes caused massive complications towards the requirement of debridement of his leg, and ultimately skin graff. This entire ordeal put my dad in the ICU for almost two months. My family had to shell out USD 60,000 in medical costs, which could have been reduced if they could travel back to Canada during the entire Covid-19 restrictions as they are both Canadian citizens. Currently, they are both in the Philippines wherein an upfront payment for the medical bills is required before any hospital would administer any treatment no matter how serious.
The stress that my mom had to handle during my dad’s ordeal now put her in the hospital. She also has diabetes and has hypertension, and she was on medication for this that did little to damage her kidneys to stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease. She needs regular dialysis up to 3 times a week, and just this weekend, she had to have emergency pulmonary edema as there was water in her lungs. Thankfully, she’s fought through it.
My family and I need your help, and any dollar to help support her treatment would genuinely be a blessing. We are seeking help so as not to liquidate the humble home my dad was trying to paint. All monies received will go towards my mom's continuous medical treatment - dialysis 3X a week and a kidney transplant if and when a viable match becomes available. Thank you for your time, compassion, & love.
We are open to any support – ideas to help bring them back to Canada, where I can help them (I have a 3-year-old toddler, but whatever I can do – I must). My son only had an opportunity to see my parents for two months in his entire lifetime.
The pandemic didn’t help the situation, and I hope he sees them both alive and healthy once more.
