This GoFundMe is for our brilliant friend, Busayo, professionally known as Dr. Olubusayo Adesanya. Dr. Adesanya is a resident physician whose life was upended after she reported sexual harassment from a supervisor, major patient safety concerns, and discrimination at the hospital. SHE IS CURRENTLY HOMELESS AFTER THE TIMELINE OF THE EVENTS BELOW. The lawsuit associated with this story is linked at the bottom of the fundraiser.
MAJOR UPDATE: Busayo received a cease-and-desist letter which is linked at the bottom of the post. As you can imagine, this is such a scary thing for a young woman to go through, but we continue to admire Dr. Adesanya's strength. To keep this fundraiser going, we will need to make some formatting adjustments below. For the legal purposes, all events in the timeline are allegations as referenced directly from the lawsuit/ public record.
Timeline
September 2nd, 2025: As pleaded in the federal lawsuit, Dr. Adesanya was forced into a supply closet by a male supervising physician who blocked her exit and made threatening statements. Dr. Adesanya reported the assault to leadership, but no internal investigation was conducted by the hospital (Paragraphs 37-44).
• December 12th, 2025: Dr. Adesanya was in good standing in her program; she received an excellent semiannual evaluation with ZERO relative deficiencies noted (Paragraphs 45–48).
• December 22nd, 2025: As set forth in the federal complaint, Dr. Adesanya reported patient safety concerns at the hospital and was forbidden by a female attending from filing a CPS report on a minor patient who had reported child abuse. The same female attending told Dr. Adesanya to “keep quiet and just agree” (Paragraph 63-68).
• January 2026: As pleaded in the federal lawsuit, the hospital scheduled the same male physician to supervise her during the first week of January without prior notice. Within days, she was subjected to further severe sexual harassment, including him telling her he hoped she would be raped (Paragraph 49-62).
• January 5th, 2026: Dr. Adesanya submitted a formal written report detailing these patient safety and harassment concerns to program leadership and was abruptly removed from her rotation that same day (Paragraphs 65- 69).
• January 13th, 2026: The Clinical Competency Committee voted to place Dr. Adesanya on probation, stating she had developed THIRTEEN deficiencies just one month after evaluating her as having none. The hospital disclosed her private health information in the probation letter without her consent and sent it to the whole psychiatry department. The probation notice also alleged she had a "contemptuous attitude" (Paragraphs 70- 73).
• May 2026: Dr. Adesanya files a federal civil lawsuit against the hospital and male supervising physician Lawsuit is linked below.
• June 24th, 2026: Dr. Adesanya files a petition for a protective restraining order against the same male doctor in state court, which is a matter of public record.
• June 30th, 2026: The hospital ends Dr. Adesanya’s residency without warning, after impairing her ability to continue her medical training and transfer prospects. (Paragraphs 76-77, 163)
Our Goal: Help Her Rebuild ($10,000)
Busayo stood up for her patients, her profession, and her principles—and it cost her everything. SHE IS CURRENTLY HOMELSS AND NEEDS HELP.
She has earned another opportunity to continue her medical training (although, unfortunately, not in psychiatry). To make this transition, she is starting from absolute zero after months without income and having to sell many of her belongings simply to survive. We are raising money in phases to help Busayo relocate, rebuild, and fight back.
Phase 1 — Our $10,000 Goal Will Help Cover: COMPLETE--Thank you!!
• Relocation: Moving expenses, transportation, fuel, and vehicle maintenance.
• Safe housing: Security deposits, rent, and basic furniture to replace what she sold.
• Basic living expenses during the transition before residency income begins.

Phase 2 -- Our $25,000-35,000+ goal is to cover: COMPLETE--Thank you!!
- Mental Health Costs: Busayo was formally diagnosed with PTSD by her psychiatrist but does not currently have health insurance. To help her continue with therapy and be able to afford her prescriptions, we would like to cover some of the costs until her new health insurance kicks in towards the end of the month.
- Car Repairs: Busayo drove several hours for her new job and while embarking on this 20+ hour road trip, her tire ripped on the freeway and caused damage to her car. She is currently driving on a spare tire. We are humbly asking for costs so she can replace this tire, replace her spare, and afford a complete car inspection.
- Women Self-Defense Classes: Busayo would really like to take one of these courses as a victim of sexual assault/harassment.
- Medical license defense fees: This is the biggest cost. After being placed on probation 8 days after reporting sexual harassment, Busayo's medical training record was tarnished forever. In the medical world, being placed on probation can prevent a resident from ever practicing medicine again. It will be a long road to obtain medical board defense services, fly out for interviews, and participate in hearings, as she attempts to get the probation removed from her record. This cost is time-dependent, but we estimate will cost her anywhere from $15,000 to $60,000.
Phase 3-- Our $75,000-125,000+ goal is to cover: CURRENTLY
-Legal fees: these fees will be used to pay her attorneys, court filing costs, deposition costs, and many other litigation-associated fees. Please note that the goal of $75-100k is an estimate and we may need to raise more. Lawsuits are unpredictable and when one woman is fighting against a large and powerful institution, having financial security within her litigation pursuits is a game-changer.
