Iceland risks, in catastrophic words, to explode! I’m inside my tent somewhere in Morocco, waiting for the water to boil to make a tea; I’m looking for my gloves and I’m reading an extract about the poles’ ice melting, about how it’s proceeding on northern latitudes like the case of Finland or, perhaps, Iceland, up there everything is faster, or so it seems, everything happens faster, like the emerging of land ( it’s been estimated that the ice melting can make some areas of Iceland to grow about 1.86 inches per year, about 4 cm ); but the main problem is another one. The ice melting is provoking the reduction of the pressure underneath the earth’s crust, let’s add this fact to the temperatures’ rising and then traslate everything into a possible volcanic magma feeding which expose the island to more risks of eruptions. And repercussions? We only need to read history, to very recent history.
Like many travelers, I dream to visit that magic island. Like many travelers I’ve decided to do it in a totally eco friendly way, exclusively by bike, sleeping outdoor, under the stars or facing storms and cooking food which are not preserved into recipients that pollute the environment ! I’ve decided to do so filming and this is why I’m here on Gofundme to ask you for help! So that everyone may explore Iceland and discover the culture of a unique island, so that anyone may understand that there’s more behind the classic tourist tours, something we can’t miss. So that everyone can be inspired from a different way of traveling, a way where you’re not faced to spend lots of money just to turn on the air conditioned and feeling satisfied because you didn’t use plastic bottles during the day. I’m not a travel blogger, and i don’t aim to become one, but surely we have to help the planet where we live in. I’m not a scientist or an expert, I’m not an eco friendly fanatic, I’m just a boy who constantly repeats to himself that we should do more and that we could do better! I meditated a lot before joining this community, I’m studying a route and the condition, I don’t think I’ve ever done a more difficult trip than this proposal, but after I talked with a team of Extreme videos experts ( we’re not talking about making videos in a comfy living room ) and after they explained to me that such a documentary can be streamed for free, I’m asking your help for the making of it. The departure date is set for august 1th and the days for filming will be about 30 in which we’ll try to film as much as we can! The proceeds of this funding will cover the cost of video equipment ( Iceland’s weather forces to have special equipment able to resist very low temperatures and heavy rain ) and the various costs of the documentary’s future distribution. A website will be open when the journey starts on which constant updates, previews, news and off air will be posted. I’ll do anything I’ll be asked for but I’m asking you for help to make this dream come true, following the idea of giving a little and different contribution to our planet’safety, to our home.

L’Islanda rischia, in parole catastrofiche, di esplodere!
Sono dentro la mia tenda da qualche parte in Marocco in attesa che l’acqua per il tè diventi bollente, cerco i guanti e leggo uno studio sullo scioglimento dei ghiacci e su come stia procedendo quest’ultimo a latitudini più alte rispetto alla nostra come nel caso della Finlandia o, appunto, dell’Islanda. Lassù è tutto più veloce da quello che sembra, tutto scorre più in fretta, compresa l’emersione delle terre ( è stato stimato che lo scioglimento dei ghiacci possa portare alcune zone dell’Islanda ad una crescita media di 1.6 pollici all’anno, circa 4 cm); ma il problema principale è un altro. Lo scioglimento dei ghiacciai sta provocando una riduzione della pressione al di sotto della crosta, aggiungiamo ora questo fattore all’innalzamento delle temperature per poi tradurre il tutto in una possibile alimentazione del magma vulcanico che espone l’isola ad un maggior rischio di eruzioni. E le ripercussioni? Basta leggere la storia, sebbene più recente.
Come tanti viaggiatori, sogno di girare quell’isola incantata. Come alcuni viaggiatori ho deciso di farlo in maniera totalmente ecosostenibile, muovendomi esclusivamente con una bici, dormendo all’aperto sotto le stelle o le bufere e cucinando alimenti privi di confezioni dannose per l’ambiente!
Ho deciso di farlo girando un documentario, ed è per questo che sono qui su gofundme a chiedervi un aiuto! Così che tutti possano esplorare l’Islanda e scoprire la cultura di un’isola unica nel suo genere, così che tutti possano capire che dietro ai tour dove vengono proposte le solite attrazioni c’è molto altro che rimane alla portata di pochi e che non possiamo permetterci di perdere. Così che tutti possano prendere spunto da un modo di viaggiare diverso, dove non si è costretti a spendere cifre esorbitanti per poi accendere il condizionatore, impostarlo a 30 gradi e sentirsi soddisfatti di non aver usato bottigliette di plastica durante il giorno.
Non sono un travel blogger e non è il mio obiettivo ultimo diventarlo, ma di sicuro c’è che bisogna aiutare il pianeta in cui viviamo. Non sono un ricercatore, non sono un esperto in materia, non sono un fanatico dell’ecosostenibilità oltre ogni ragione, sono semplicemente un ragazzo che ripete a se stesso che ogni giorno dovremmo fare di più e potremmo fare di meglio!
Ho riflettuto molto prima di inserirmi su questa piattaforma, sto studiando un percorso e le condizioni, non penso di aver mai fatto viaggio più duro di una proposta simile, ma dopo aver contattato un team di esperti in produzioni video in circostanze estreme ( perché non parliamo di fare riprese in un comodo salotto ) e dopo avermi spiegato che un documentario simile potrebbe essere trasmesso gratuitamente, chiedo aiuto a voi per la realizzazione di questo.
La partenza è stata fissata per il primo agosto e il tempo di realizzazione delle riprese durerà circa 30 giorni in cui cercheremo di girare il più possibile! Il ricavato di questa raccolta fondi servirà a coprire costi di attrezzatura per le riprese ( le condizioni climatiche dell’Islanda richiedono attrezzatura specifica per temperature e quantità di pioggia ) e le varie spese di distribuzione del documentario che ne verrà fuori.
Verrà aperto un sito al momento della partenza sul quale saranno pubblicati aggiornamenti costanti, anteprime, fuori onda e news! Farò tutto ciò che verrà chiesto, ma vi chiedo un aiuto per realizzare questo sogno, con l’idea di dare un piccolo e diverso contributo a quella che è la salvaguardia del nostro pianeta, della nostra casa.
