Do It For Nancy
Donation protected
We are here fighting for my Mom, Nancy Bornemann, age 51. She was born and raised in North Dakota. 5 years ago she was diagnosed with brain cancer and a very aggressive brain tumor. Glioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain. Despite maximum treatment, the cancer usually recurs. The most common length of survival following diagnosis is 12 to 15 months, with fewer than 3% to 5% of people surviving longer than five years.
Nancy has had a total of 3 brain surgeries within the last 5 years. She has undergone countless rounds of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Her most recent surgery on February 7, 2019 was a scary one. Initially the surgery went well but as the nights when on she battled with seizures and some added confusion. We later learned that she is no longer able to continue on with chemotherapy treatments, radiation, or another brain surgery. Without treatment, survival is typically three months. Her memory has been stolen from her and she often doesn’t understand why she is in the hospital and what has happened. The dates and times seem to be lost and mixed. But she is a fighter and she still has the stubborn attitude we all love.
Her husband, Neal has been fighting and struggling with insurance and coverage of medical costs since the second surgery, and we are nervous for what is to come with this third surgery. Since February 7th she has been in the hospital acquiring medical bills and unfortunately there is no end in sight. Family and friends have been staying with her at all times because she gets scared to sleep and is confused on where she is and why she has to stay. She probably won’t ever be able to return home so we asking for help to ease the financial weight we are about to see.
If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps us get closer to the goal. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them. Every donation will be 100% for medical costs.
