DO IT FOR DUNNY

Our mate, Chris 'Dunny'  Dunn, has lived through what no one should ever have to live through not once, but twice. 

On the 20th June 2018 Dunny's beloved record store at The Edwards in Newcastle West burnt down. Little was salvageable and a lot of his prized records were on show and stored here and sadly lost in the fire. Dunny was broken but his saving grace at the time was that his most loved and cherished collection of records, cd's and cassettes he had worked on over the past 50+ years were, thankfully, at his home a few streets away in Newcastle West.

Now, nearly 2 years to the day of the last fire, on the 27th June 2020 Dunny's home had a devastating fire. Dunny was lucky to make it out himself and all he managed to grab was his phone. There was a little bit of hope that maybe his collection was saved as it was out the back in a hidden shower room, at the time we didn't know how severe the damage was. After a few days of rummaging through the rubble it was clear that Dunny was walking away with nothing from what was once his home. 

In Dunny's words he has lost "every great record ever released and every great Australian independent release between 1975-1981." Dunny is a humble man, he has lived a simple life, music is his heart and soul. His record collection is irreplaceable as there were records in there not even Dunny will be able to find again. But I know a bit of cash in the hand right now will help Dunny pick up the pieces and get back on his feet.
