The Effects of the Wildfires in Australia:
The entire country of Australia is being devastated by bushfires – koalas are being scorched, millions of Australians are choking on smoke, and there’s no sign of these fires stopping anytime soon. And we here at Twitter dot com want to help!
While it took only one day for billionaires to raise more than $1 billion to assist with the reconstruction of Notre Dame after a fire caused some moderate damages, the entire country of Australia doesn’t seem to be getting the same attention. Unlike Notre Dame, the fires in Australia are causing severe damages on the scale of an entire continent; are affecting millions of people; have killed approximately 1 billion animals; and have emitted about 350 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, two-thirds of the country’s annual emissions just at the turn of the new year. Houses are being destroyed, and people are being displaced by the thousands.
In total, about 15 million acres in Australia have been burned during these bushfires. To put that to scale, in two notable fires in 2019, California lost 250,000 acres during its fire season, and 2.24 million acres were burned in the Amazon rainforest.

Do Good Inc. decided to help fundraise for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS). The NSW RFS is completely volunteer-based, and those volunteers are the first responders who are fighting the fires devastating Australia and updating the public about any changes on the fire front. The NSW RFS is in desperate need of funding to provide resources for the volunteers fighting the Australian bushfires. All donations will go directly to NSW RFS to help assist with funding its volunteer first responders.
How We Can Make a Difference:
Many organizations are assisting and offering aid to Australia during this trying dry season of fire and destruction, and we want to help support those organizations financially. We may not be billionaires like those who raised money for Notre Damme, but if enough of us work together, we can make an impact!
