Do a Dandy Deed for Dan

Hi folks. We are 2 friends who recently had the fortunate occasion to get reconnected with our dear friend, Dan Stromme. We have known him since we were in high school, back in the late 70's. He was known by his friends and classmates as "Dan The Man" because of his generous spirit and outgoing personality. He literally was everyone's friend. A sweet, humble, salt of the earth kind of guy.

He always had a smile on his face and made us all laugh with his witty sense of humor.

Being the upbeat, positive kind of person Dan is, we had no idea what he's been going through these past several years, and we bet a lot of you don't know either.
Dan has given us permission to share this information with all of you at our request. He has had some significant health issues over the past few years. He was recently in a rehab center for 3 months after having surgery for a bad infection in his groin. The diabetes has ravaged Dan's body causing repeated infections, severe neuropathy in his legs, and now he is losing his vision. Besides dealing with all the side effects of diabetes, Dan also has a degenerative neuromuscular disease that has taken away his ability to walk and he's losing strength in his upper extremities. He also just lost his insurance.
I'm sure most of you know what a talented artist Dan is. When we walked in the back door he was sitting at his art table painting, but now he has to use both hands because of the weakness and tremors in his hands. Nothing is going to stop Dan from one of his passions and God given talents in life!

We are so happy to be back in touch with Dan. Although we were shocked by what disease is doing to his body, we were reminded of how important our relationships and friendships are, and what connection really is. Dan's spirit remains positive through these struggles and is evident in the twinkle in his eye and laughter that we shared.  When we touched bases later that day he was in the kitchen making Danish Dumplings from scratch. One song that has been especially inspirational to Dan these past few months is God's Been Good by Legacy Five. "God's Been Good" on YouTube https://youtu.be

We are setting up this fundraising for Dan because there are some items that would really make life easier for him. We are hoping to raise enough money to buy an electric wheelchair, a hoyer lift, ramps and whatever other items that will allow him more independence and the ability to get outside his home and enjoy time with friends.
We want to ask you to please donate what you can for Dan. Let's rally around this amazing man who has been a good friend and influence for all of us. Let's show him how much we care about him and love him.
Please join us in Doing a Dandy Deed for Dan!
Please forward this on to others that you think would love to be a part of this expression of love and gratitude!
Thank you!
Denise and Suzie.
