Hello, my name is Maria, and I am the daughter of Irene who needs emergency hernia surgery. My mother has three hernias that have begun to affect nearby organs, and insurance refuses to cover the surgery. It’s time my mother receives treatment and repairs the hernias that have significantly impacted her quality of life for over a decade. 

An hernia is a condition in which part of an organ is displaced and protrudes through the cavity wall. The surgery is critical because If an hernia is left untreated, it can become strangulated, leading to life-threatening conditions. 

To know Irene is to love her. My mother arrived in the U.S. from Guatemala and has worked tirelessly to support my brother and me. She lights up any room she walks into with her sense of humor and charisma.

Our goal and hope for this fundraiser is to help alleviate the financial stress of medical expenses, multiple appointments, and missed work.
