Hi! My name is Cherie and I am a single mother blessed with 3 beautiful children (2 Boys, and 1 Girl). I was diagnoised with Epilepsy in March of 1996. My seizures were pretty much controlled with medication for about 13 years.
I lost my job in June of 2009 and fell into a deep state of depression. I was diagnoised with Fibromyalgia in February of 2010. To keep myself going I kept busy with my part time craft business, Treasured Blessings. This was very theraputic for me and it kept me occupied.
In June of 2011 I started having partial focal seizures. They were becoming more and more frequent. In May 2014, I moved back to Virginia and experienced a few grand mal siezures. My focal seizures also continued. My Neurologist changed my medication, but the medicine was not helping.
I was enventually referred to an Epileptologist and admitted to the Virginia Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. I have had a series of intense pre-surgical tests which have included an MRI, MRA, VEEG, WADA & SPECT Scans.
The results from the MRI showed a lesion on the right side of my brain. The Neuropsychological test revealed some short term memory loss and the VEEG (Video EEG) confirmed that the seizure activity was stemming from the right side of my brain.
My doctors and the hospital are both located in Winchester, VA which is a little under 2 hours from where I live. I have not been able to drive since June of 2015 (imagine that with two teenage boys). Have that luxury taken away from you and it definitely takes a toll on your ability to remain sain. Relying on friends and family for transportation feels like a huge burden. Not only for me, but my children too.
I am scheduled to see a surgeon on February 9th to have a Right Temporal Lobectomy. My insurance does not cover all of my medical expenses.
I'm asking for any financial support from you, by offering a donation that can be contribute towards my medical expenses. Your continued prayers and support for me and my family during this time are greatly appreciated.
~ Blessings
Cherie
