Codys Christmas Miracle

Donation protected
Hoping for a Christmas miracle...in Jasper, Arkansas

Cody is my youngest son and he is 30 years old. He has an Arnoid Chiari Malformation, Ventilaor dependent, hydrocephalic,   paralyzed, has a super pubic catheter for kidney function and must be tube fed. He has had two strokes and only has use of his right arm and hand. He is completely bedridden. Cody's dad and myself have been his caregivers since his medical issues came to surface at the age of three. He's had cervical decompressions, a craniotomy, complete spinal fusion and too many more surgeries to list.

Cody's dad suddenly passed away two years ago and since then it's just been Cody and myself. I am almost seventy-two years old and I can't explain the blessings I feel when God gives me another day with Cody. However, over the past three months Cody has acquired two pressure ulcers on his bottom. We have been to wound care and we've also tried wet to dry dressings. The rapid progression of this wound and the sheering in bed has caused this ulcer to get out of hand. In addition to myself, I have had home nursing care and we have still not been able to get the wounds healed.  Recently, Cody has been in the hospital twice and also had to have surgery for irrigation and debridement. He now has a wound vac which runs at 125 mmHg pressure. It is painful and uncomfortable.

Dressing changes for the wound vac are Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Due to the daily nursing care already in place, Medicare is refusing to pay for the wound care visits and calls it double dipping. I have been advised that I am responsible for $290 every time they walk in the door. There are many other expenses in caring for Cody that go above and beyond the wound care visits. We are also having difficulties in transporting him and am in need of a larger vehicle. I cannot bear this financial expense. I will not call it a burden because nothing in providing care for Cody will ever be a burden. However, I now have no choice but to humbly ask for assistance from those who can offer it. If anyone who has read Cody's story can find it in their heart to help us with the medical expenses or even a larger vehicle, we would be forever grateful. Cody and I exist on Social Security alone which makes this an impossible challenge. I will say THANK YOU in advance to those who can contribute to  Cody's cause.
