D'NASYA JORDAN had the below experience with J Riz Entertainment. As an entrepreneurial vocalist (with a voice of GOLD), D'Nasya is now out of work, is incurring hotel expenses as she and her family attempt to isolate from one another, and has been forced to cancel all of the auditions and gigs she has booked for the foreseeable future.
Though we’re unsure what can be done to hold them accountable (for their racism, misogyny, and unsafe work environment), please consider making a gift to support this incredible family and leave your compassionate suggestions in the comments. Show D some love, for her resilience and artistry.
-D’Nasya joins the wedding band
-Band members learn of CDC & state guidance for gigs (either vax or tests before each gig are required)
-White band member refuses to comply
-D’Nasya attends a rehearsal where this member, other singers including a new band member, and band owner are not wearing masks (in an enclosed rehearsal space with no windows)
-Expresses concern to leadership and asks for a full band health and safety meeting
-Explains the way the Black communities have been disproportionally impacted by the pandemic and that her family is all at-risk
-Had these concerns reduced to “disagreements among the female singers”
-The meeting was reduced to only the vocalists and accomplished nothing but reassigning D’Nasya to a new ensemble of the band
-Was told it wasn’t an issue of race and that she needs to work on her “anger and delivery”
-D’Nasya contracted Covid-19, days later, along with two other members of the band
-Living with several members of her family, they, too, contracted Covid-19
-D’Nasya has quit and has not received so much as an apology or signs of adjusted behavior moving forward
