Welcome to the fundraiser for DNA's recovery from rotator cuff surgery!
DNA will be having rotator cuff surgery in January 2023 and we are gathering funds to help her through her recovery. After surgery, DNA will need to keep her right arm immobilized for 10 weeks. Rehab and rebuilding strength and dexterity of her right arm will start in April 2023, and this process may take an additional 3 to 6 months to get to full strength again. DNA will not be able to work, either to earn money or to finish her Tiny Home, until sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2023. She will not be able to do anything that requires her to use her right arm or right hand until the beginning of April at the earliest.
For all of us who know DNA as a catalyst for event construction, barn raising, hell-raising, and countless community projects, we want to make sure that we can hold her in comfort and care throughout her recovery from shoulder surgery. The most direct way we can do this is by offering financial support. All donations go directly to DNA (minus the GoFundMe fees, of course).
DNA has the support of her community during this time of recovery from surgery in so many ways. Through this platform, we hope that DNA can be freed up to focus entirely on the healing process, while we carry her through this challenging time with financial support. The financial goal for this medical fundraiser is $7000. Every little bit helps.
Other kinds of support are welcome!
We know it’s not always possible to give financially and the beauty of community care is that it shows up in so many forms. Non-financial support is also very welcome! Are you in Ithaca and able to drive DNA to any of her numerous PT sessions? Are you in a position to prepare and share a meal or two? Let's get creative! Send a message through this GoFundMe and you will reach Emily, who is happy to navigate scheduling non-financial support as well as answer any questions you might have about the fundraiser.
Please also consider sharing this and circulating it in your communities and on your social media platforms.
