Tim’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
April 12th, 2024 my father, Tim Smith, was involved in a motorcycle accident when someone pulled out in front of him.
Upon arrival to the hospital the first diagnosis I received was he had some minor bleeding on his brain, and in one lung. He had also suffered several broken and fractured bones. His right arm, sternum, several different ribs, pelvis, and hip. Along with some severe second degree burns to his entire left leg and an unknown number of cuts, abrasions and lacerations. His vitals were all over the place Friday night but at my return Saturday morning, they had put him on an incubator over night to assist with his breathing. Blood pressure and body temp were both on the rise and they took him back for his first surgery. Surgery #1 , pelvic reconstruction, everything went well and afterwards Saturday was a full day of rest. Sunday morning, they removed the incubator and sedation had wore off but he’s still very tired from the stress his body has had to overcome. Much pain and discomfort when he’s awake but as of now he is on his own and vitals are stable and right where they need to be. Still have atleast one surgery that we know of at the moment on his right arm for reconstruction, and fingers crossed that’ll be all on the operating table.
This morning the doctor spoke with us about his recovery to come and this is when everything really hit hard. After having his pelvic surgery, he is non weight bearing on his lower half of his body. That being said there’s lots of rehabilitation in his future and it could be several months before he’s actually able to return home. Unfortunately while he’s in rehab and recovery, his monthly bills and dues don’t seize to stop rolling in. Not to mention the unimaginable number of hospital bills steadily adding up.
Were not exactly sure how his insurance and everything will play into affect and what will come of that but we do know we will need every bit of assistance keeping his bills and everything up to date. This is a life changing event for him and everyone around him and I’m thankful each and every second of the day that he’s still here to be with us.
He’s one tough guy and has always raised me to fight my own battles and work for what I want in life but at this moment I need all the help I can get. I thank god each and every day I get to call him my father and now I’m blessed enough to have him still with me. If a donation isn’t possible, which we totally understand, all we can ask for are shares and prayers. The outreach we’ve received since word got out has been unbelievable and we truly are gifted to be around the friends and family we call ours. Thank you looking and god bless
