Hi my name is Casey. I am a healer, a warrior, and a survivor.
In April of 2022 I was diagnosed with stage 2 adenocarcinoma of the colon.
I am 34, healthy, and active but this is my second battle with cancer. I have been so blessed to survive stage 4 Ewing sarcoma at the age of 5. I went through extensive chemotherapy treatments and surgery to remove the cancer.
The weight of this years diagnosis hit us like a train, my husband and I were both in shock. It has been incredibly difficult to share this news with family and friends with the flood of memories from my previous battle. We chose to keep this fight behind closed doors for the first few months as we received more information.
So far I have gone through 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. I am now riding out the side effects from those treatments while waiting for follow up scans mid July. Depending on the results, the plan is for surgery in the following weeks, recovery, then another extensive round of chemo.
I find it difficult to be vulnerable and share this fight openly, let alone ask for support. However I realize that I am not alone, and it takes a village to overcome adversity.
Humbly, we are hoping to raise money to help with the costs of out of pocket expenses for treatments, therapy, travel expenses, and recovery time. If you feel called to donate, share, send love, positive vibes, compassion, healing or prayers we are forever grateful.
My husband and I have a long road ahead but we are both confident and feel extremely blessed to be experiencing this journey with positive outlooks and strong hope of successful healing.
Reliving this experience as an adult has been so raw and real. Unfiltered by childhood innocence this event shook our foundation. But we realize every breath is sweet, every moment worth savoring and every day a gift. Continue to enjoy the present and accept my deepest gratitude.
