In mid-March 2026, the Martinez family were evicted from their longtime Evanston residence forcibly and without proper warning. They had to leave their house without being able to grab any of their items initially, and were left to find a place to stay in the middle of the winter. Since then, they have been struggling to find a new residence, and have had to stay in various hotels, forced to spend a lot of money to keep their family safe. They have finally found an apartment, but are now faced with the expenses associated with moving and rent.
The Martinez family are longtime beloved Evanston community members. I am a friend of the family, raising money on their behalf. I first met their eldest son Adrian at Nichols Middle School and then later becoming closer as his peer buddy for Wildkit Buddies. We have remained friends since we graduated ETHS in 2019. His younger brother is also a recent ETHS graduate. Both of their parents are incredibly hardworking and kind people, who I know will be eternally grateful for the help from any donors.
I am hoping we can initially raise $1,600 by April 23rd to help the family cover their first month’s rent. After that, I am hoping we can reach at least $4,000 so that the family can cover their moving expenses, and help get back on their feet. Any donation amount is appreciated. Please also share with your personal networks and on social media.
Thank you!!
