If 2020 wasn’t hard enough already; it is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our friend Frank Nguyen. Frank passed suddenly due to complications from COVID-19. He is survived by his wife of many years, Jill Cannon Nguyen, his six year old son Zach, his mom, siblings, and countless friends, all whose lives he’s touched and made better by his friendship.
There wasn’t a more dedicated and loving father or husband than Frank. From spending countless hours building Legos, helping with homework, cooking, and watching hockey, Frank did it all with his family.
Those who knew Frank best, knew Frank had an innate ability to bring people together, his bright smile, positive and upbeat attitude made everyone around him laugh and feel at ease. If you were lucky enough to travel with Frank, then you knew the same passion Frank put into his relationships he put into his trips and his trip preparations; most notably his spreadsheets. It was a labor of love, not because Frank was a true consultant, thorough, detailed and methodical, which he was all of those things, but he put the same effort into his trips as he did with everything he was passionate about.
Frank was a foodie. His trips always included the best cuisine from around the world. He enjoyed eating cuisines from many cultures as much as he did cooking them. Frank may have even perfected his own mother’s pho recipe. Frank was selfless; not only were his friends the beneficiaries of his culinary skills, but he also volunteered and helped cook meals at homeless shelters and put care packages together annually for the less fortunate.
He was a mentor to so many, he counselled and gave advice to anyone who needed it. Frank would do anything for his friends. He cultivated simple interactions and turned them into life-long relationships. Even after just one interaction you would consider Frank a friend you have known for years. He made everyone around him feel special, he found time to listen, love and talk when called upon.
As you spend the holidays with your loved ones, we ask that you take a moment and consider Jill, Zach and Frank’s family during this holiday. We are creating a fund to help support Frank's family during this difficult time and into the future when they are faced without his help and guidance but need it most. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for your assistance with this fund in supporting Frank’s family as they organize Frank's homegoing preparations and help with his son Zach's education. Frank loved his family above all else, and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor Frank than to help his family in their time of need.
Any and all gifts would be greatly appreciated. We can never replace him, but we can demonstrate how much he meant to each of us.
