Support Taryn's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

It was a beautiful day, August 31st (Labor Day Weekend), when Taryn decided to try something fun and new. Taryn Junker, being adventurous and daring, tried to wake surf. Little did she know this would change her life for a while.

Taryn was trying to lift herself out of the water onto the surfboard when suddenly it slipped from under her feet, bringing her to fall into the water. As this happened, she heard a crack. She thought the surfboard had cracked in half. As she was floating in the water, she realized she was in a lot of pain and thought, "Oh no, I think I was the one that broke."

Taryn suffered a broken femur, the largest bone in the body. The doctors said it was a freak accident and not common at all for this type of injury from wake surfing. They stated they mostly see this type of injury in a car accident. She was transported the next day to Brainerd hospital ER, then to St. Cloud hospital. The orthopedic surgeon scheduled surgery for the following day.

Taryn has been in the hospital ever since, working towards recovery. The surgery went well, and she now has a rod from her hip to her knee. Every day that goes by, it gets a little better, but she has a long road ahead of her.

Taryn will undergo inpatient rehab for a few weeks. Taryn lives by herself and works full-time as a groomer. With her accident, she will be unable to work for some time.

It would be a huge appreciation if we could share this with you in hopes of helping Taryn get on her feet (no pun intended). She will have medical expenses, and with her being out of work for a few months while trying to work towards walking, bending, and learning how to resume daily activities to get back to a normal life.

We are trusting in the power of faith and the Lord to see her through this difficult time. Thank you for your understanding of needs during this time, and we ask you to please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Any kind of assistance would be so appreciated.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Update***September 19th***

Taryn had her follow up with her surgeon on Monday. He explained in detail the surgery on her femur and the process. She told the doctor she does not remember him talking to her at all after the surgery.

He joked with her a bit telling her to make sure she does her therapy, or she may walk with a limp off to one side if she does not..

She has physical therapy twice a week.

Her days are spent exercising, coloring, reading and watching movies.

She Will be off work until December 1st at least that is the plan. She will continue to use a walker for a few weeks and eventually graduate to a Cain.

This has been hard on Taryn both physically emotionally. She's missing work, friends and her fur babies.

She is so very thankful for everyone's thoughts, prayers, donations and support thru all of this.
