DMD Emergency Program for Brazil Floods
Donation protected
The World Duchenne Organization is a global organization for people living with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD/BMD). We are asking for your urgent support for Duchenne families in Brazil who have been devastated by recent catastrophic floods.
Since the start of May, Brazil has been experiencing an environmental and humanitarian crisis due to flooding, affecting nearly 1.5 million people. It includes Duchenne families who have lost their homes and some are isolated and in direct need of assistance. In response to this disaster, the World Duchenne Organization has activated the DMD Emergency Fund specifically for these families.
Karina Zuge, Chair of the organization Aliança Distrofia Brasil (ADB), is coordinating our efforts on the ground in Brazil. The funds will be used to:
Providing Essential Devices: Many families have lost critical medical and mobility equipment. Donations will help replace these devices, ensuring they can maintain their health and mobility.
The situation is urgent, and we are working closely with ABDM to assess and meet the needs of these families. As Karina Zuge described, "The situation is very complicated." Direct action is needed to support those who have been impacted.
Your support can make a great difference in the lives of Duchenne families affected by this flooding. Please consider donating to this campaign and help us provide the urgent assistance that is needed.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Nicoletta Madia
