This is not easy for me to write, but my family and I are in a very difficult place right now.

Almost two years ago, after my mother-in-law passed away, we went through a very tough time. Between grief, unexpected expenses, and trying to stay afloat, we fell behind on our mortgage and credit card bills. That’s what eventually led us to file for bankruptcy last year, in hopes of getting a fresh start.

Since then, our wages have been garnished, making it extremely hard to keep up with everyday bills. Over the summer, I was out of work for a couple of months, and when I did find a job, the pay wasn’t enough to cover both our living costs and the garnishment. With two daughters to take care of, there simply hasn’t been any extra money to put aside.

Now, the court is requiring a lump sum payment of $3,000 by September 29th. If we can’t make this payment, our bankruptcy case will be dismissed and everything we’ve worked toward will collapse.

Even raising half—$1,500—would likely give us enough time to pay the rest. Every single dollar truly makes a difference and brings us closer to keeping our case open and our family moving forward.
