Our sons were born with a very rare and devastating genetic disorder called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome. Ben is 3 years old and Pedro is only 2 weeks old. Ben only just became more confident with his walking and he's surprised us all a lot with how far he has come. He cannot speak or use sign language to communicate. He is the happiest little boy I know. He just lights up the room with his big smile. Every cold causes him to be at risk for a serious infection like pneumonia. Since just 10 months old and over time, he has been in and out of hospital. The 401 Project is a foundation started by parents of children with this same disorder dedicated to raising money to find a cure --- and we have! The next step is clinical trials in humans. Currently we need several million dollars to get to this step, and each family is working to raise money towards this goal. Any small amount helps.
