Hi I’m Jhaneen currently in New York. As you may know, Hurricane Melissa, a category 5 hurricane, devastated the island I call home, Jamaica, on October 28, 2025. Melissa caused catastrophic damage and was the strongest hurricane to make landfall on the island, surpassing that of Hurricane Gilbert in 1988.

Due to the magnitude of the damages, many communities on the northwest and south coast where it made landfall are cut off and are slow to receive aid.

Many have asked what they can do to help, and this is the best way I can think of.

I’m asking for your support no matter how small because every donation counts. I’m gathering supplies to send by ocean freight using a shipper in Queens, NY, to be delivered to Kingston, Jamaica. Delivery time is 10-14 days. The port in Montego Bay is not operating at this time due to extensive damage. Kingston is 4 hours from Montego Bay. I have someone that will pick up the shipments and deliver them to anyone in need on the northwest coast. For the communities of Anchovy and surrounding areas.

Your donation will be used to purchase the following items:

Toothpaste
Mouthwash
Body wash
Cereal
Pancake mix
Wipes
Diapers
Ketchup
Mayo
Spam
Tuna
Canned green peas
Canned sweet corn
Corned beef
Sausage
Cooking oil
Batteries (AA, AAA)
Solar lights
Tape (clear and duct)
Jelly
Peanut butter
Tomato sauce
Paper towel
Bath tissue
Solar generator not exceeding 5000 watts
Starlink Satellite WiFi System

The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) advises the public that Import Duty (ID) and General Consumption Tax (GCT) have been temporarily suspended on specific goods and items imported in support of Jamaica's national recovery efforts. This exemption ends December 31, 2025.

With the above exemption, I’d like to send as many packages up to the deadline. I hope the government will extend this as I’d like to continue this effort into 2026.

Thanks in advance for your support.
