Transplant to Success!
Donation protected
My beloved wife, Peri, needs a kidney. She has one kidney that has been on the decline since 2004 and she has been on dialysis, three times a week, for two years. Although dialysis is making a huge difference in her life, it is not the answer. She needs a Kidney Transplant as soon as possible.
She is on waiting lists to get a kidney from a deceased donor in two places. One in New York State and the other is in New Jersey. She is currently investigating getting on the list in Connecticut. Peri could get a kidney in as little as three months to a year.
A kidney from a living donor would be ideal. Just before Peri went on dialysis I was tested to be that donor. We were a match in every way but in the end, I was ineligible.
The reason I am asking for this money is that Peri's insurance only covers 80% of medical costs, including surgery, hospital, and doctor's fees. There are also expenses beyond medical that are not covered. That includes transportation to and from the hospital where she will get surgery, hotel stays for me so that I can be with Peri and as close to her as possible while she is in the hospital. Other expenses include but are not limited to food and medical supplies.
When Peri does get home, she will have to visit doctors at the hospital, where the surgery takes place, two times a week for the first month and then once a week for the second and once every other week for the third month. Going to New Jersey and Connecticut – and even New York – will be expensive because she will not be able to take public transportation. In addition, she will have to go to labs to get bloodwork done in New York City.
To give you a bit about Peri's background...
Tennis and Art - ceramics in particular - have been her life. She was the captain of her high school tennis team and on the team in college. She was a tennis instructor for 30 years and had to retire because her kidney was failing. She just didn't have the energy to keep up with her very talented students. She is also a ceramic artist who has created beautiful pieces. I would love to see her get back to making art in some form. She has a Masters in Art Education from Montclair State University and is certified to teach art in New York and New Jersey. Dialysis is exhausting and she just doesn't have the energy to do any of this.
Ever since I met Peri in 2007, I have been with her all the way, step by step, on this journey. I love her so much and don't know what I'd do without her. Please help to save a life, Peri's life, and donate today. Please share this with as many people as you can.
