Jade just had her post op appointment. Good news and not so good news. The good news is that her tongue looks phenomenal. The margins were clean and the healing is going quite well. They were able to do reconstruction during the surgery so we do not foresee any future reconstruction as of right now.  As many of you know Jade loves to sing with her church band.  As of a few days ago she is able to talk and sing!!!!  This is a miracle for her!!!  The not so great news is this does not mean that islands of much smaller tumors can not exist outside of the clean margins.  In addition, one of the lymph nodes they took out was positive for metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. This means that cancer could be anywhere.  It is circulating in the bloodstream.  She will move forward with radiation and chemo as soon as the tongue has healed some more.

She praising God that she has such an amazing support system and that treatments are available. She will continue doing all of the alternative treatments as well as conventional treatments. Jade wants to extend her heart felt thank you to everyone who has given financially, given of their time, given of their labor,  and spent precious moments in prayer. She is blown away at all of the gifts that have come in from people from her past and present as well as those she has never even met.  Thank you so much!!

Prayers are always welcomes and needed. Radiation begins soon and continues for the next for 6 weeks.

Dear friends and family, as some as you may already be aware my lifelong best friend has been recently diagnosed with cancer. If you have known me for any length of time, you will recognize the name Jade. If you attended Gulf Breeze High School in the late 1980's you'll recognize the name Jade. If you played sports down at the rec center or high school softball 3-4 decades ago .... you know the name Jade. Jade has spent the last 10 plus years of her life helping those less fortunate, she serves as a missionary for Life Church and has a huge selfless heart... now it's time for us to help her.


Jade was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue and throat area just last week. Because of the aggressive nature of this disease, she will be undergoing extensive surgery next Friday followed by chemo and radiation and most likely reconstructive surgery thereafter. As we know, insurance only covers so much of the cost of care and she will be in great need of assistance during this difficult time. Jade is also exploring alternative treatments  in combination with the traditional route, which is not covered by insurance.
