Supporting Peter Torensma’s Battle

Hi, my name is Emily. I am Pete’s youngest sister. I am reaching out because I feel that good people deserve good things and sometimes you have to ask for help. Pete is a loving father to a daughter 19, daughter 16 and son 13 yr old as well as a loving partner to Christine and her son 19 yrs old. In May 2023 Pete was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma. Without giving too much detail, he went through countless chemo treatments(r-chop and GDP) then 10 days of radiation, and finally a CAR-T treatment to fight the cancer. This seemed to get the original mass under control.

Even though we believe they have the cancer under control the aftermath has been endless for him, and he has been unable to work in any true capacity for a year and a half. He struggles to get off the couch due to lack of strength.

The treatments they gave as well as the cancer caused a duadenal stenosis which is a narrowing in the intestine. They had to put in a feeding tube to allow him to get food past for several months.

Surgery was required to bypass the blockage and allow him to eat again. He has been very limited in what he can eat since the bypass and is in a great deal of ongoing pain throughout all of these obstacles. He has undergone countless tests to try and find out what’s going on and how to fix things.

CURRENTLY- he is back in the hospital and had his gallbladder removed as it had stopped working, was greatly inflamed and full of gall stones. Juravinski has become like a second Home to him as he’s been admitted 20+ times and I’m so thankful for all the workers and doctors that have worked endlessly to try and keep him comfortable. He has been admitted for over a month now and they still are trying to get answers as to why he is still in so much pain. Praying they come back with possible solutions.

Pete’s Fiancée Christine has also worked tirelessly to help keep things going. Christine has been a rock balancing everything.

Family members, including the mother of Pete’s children have helped out to make sure the kids have what they need at this time.

They don’t have the time in a day, or man power to keep things financially going so I am asking you to reach into your pockets and donate what you can even if it’s $20 to help support him and his family while they go through this journey. Pete has always been an independent business owner and has always helped those that need a place to stay or a job. I would give anything for him to have relief from what he is going through and I feel that this is the only way for me to help.
