"We wonder by what miracle we will live? And by what miracle will we forget! “
The war has placed a great zero in the life of every Gazan, for those who did not lose their family lost their home, and for those who did not lose their home lost a loved one or a friend, and for those who did not lose all that, hunger became a constant companion for them, so life passes in front of us as if it means nothing to us, and it surpasses us as if we have no connection to it... We are neither a legend nor a miracle, and we do not have many options except for some attempts to continue so that we do not forget our dreams, our thoughts, our selves, our ambitions, so that bread does not become our biggest dreams!
Therefore, we have come to narrate our story with some fear and a lot of loss and a lot, a lot of hope. We have never preferred leaving Gaza or emigrating from it even in these harsh days where we are being exterminated, bombed, and burnt, but the war has prolonged and prevailed with all its brutality, and hunger is now devouring everyone here, cutting off livelihoods and jobs, dozens of pleas are launched every day to search for shelter, food, and work... So, all of this, we, friends gather today: Fuad Abu Fannouna, Sherine Abdel Kareem, Diana Shamali.
Fuad Abu Fannouna, a Palestinian born in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip in 1997, holds a bachelor's degree in Health Administration from Al-Quds Open University and a diploma in Theater and Creative Writing. He is a project coordinator, content writer, and youth activist in the field of human rights. He currently works as a national contact point in the Peer Education and IBHAR Network, and as the coordinator of youth councils in the central governorates.
Sherine Abdel Kareem, born in Gaza in 1996, holds a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Islamic University and a diploma in Graphic Design, in addition to working in the artistic field. She recently works as an architectural engineer and a designer of virtual reality and 3D environments to develop and enhance realistic and enjoyable virtual environments in terms of aesthetics, representing accurately architectural designs, interior spaces, and urban landscapes.
Diana Shamali was born in Gaza City in 1996, studied architecture at the Islamic University in 2019, and works in the field of game development (3D Environment Design), in addition to architectural design for interior and exterior spaces (landscape design).
We gather today after losing everything we have in our lives, our homes destroyed, bidding farewell to our loved ones, becoming homeless, losing our jobs, and all our dreams have vanished. We have experienced displacement several times, forcibly and unjustly, and events have separated our families, witnessing life on the streets, in shelters, and tents, and there is nothing left for us to lose...
Therefore, despite the extermination for ourselves and what remains of our families, we have decided to continue injecting life into ourselves. With the widening circle of the extermination war against us and the targeting of all forms of human life, including disabling our practical lives, from which we earn our living, and destroying infrastructure and cutting off basic services like the internet and electricity, we are part of the whole. We want to launch a fundraising campaign to collect the necessary funds to establish and operate a public coworking space, providing high-speed internet, continuous electricity, and striving to provide mobile devices for those who have lost theirs due to their homes being bombed or continuous displacement, to help ourselves and help other youth like us to employ our abilities to contribute to resuming our work or seeking new jobs, in addition to helping enrolled students complete their computer-based education under the decisions of the Ministry of Education to continue the educational process.
Despite the difficulty of the situation here and the limited available resources and the high prices, we will try our best, with the participation of some specialists and officials, to provide the best possible working environment for youth.
The funds will be allocated as follows, knowing that this information may vary due to the continuous change in prices, and it will be paid monthly with the possibility of extending this project after the war because it will take a long time to renovate and build the infrastructure:
- Rent for the necessary workspace: ($1500/month)
- Providing high-speed internet subscriptions: ($1000/month)
- Providing solar panels and large charging batteries to ensure continuous electricity: ($300/panel, needing more than 15 panels), in addition to the need for charging batteries ($300/battery, needing more than 10 batteries)
- Assistance in purchasing mobile devices for affected individuals: ($1500/device, needing more than 30 devices approximately)
- Supporting needy students: (remaining budget available)
Gaza was our boundless hope; we have been torn apart, but the dream remains alive within us. Therefore, if you believe that hope is still possible even in the hardest circumstances, we need your support. Every donation means a lot to us and makes a big difference. The funds will be used transparently and efficiently. Your contribution will be our lifeline and that of our peers, helping us rise again despite all the current circumstances. Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues so that we can reach our goal and provide what we need.
We sincerely thank you for your kindness and support, as well as your willingness to stand in solidarity with us. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
