Transition Of A Lifetime

My Heart:

The past five years have been some of the most eye-opening, stirring and incredible times of my life.  When I discovered God's heart to bring light to people trapped in darkness, life to those without hope and joy and tangible relief to the hurting - my life and passions were shaken and inspired as never before.  It was not long after these realizations of God's power and His unfathomable love for people that my introverted-teenage self began praying for people that I didn't know and seeing those around me through an ever-increasing compassion that would come to change my life forever.

Opportunities to teach in churches, minister at Christian conferences and spend over six months in Central America as a missionary have all sparked from this simple beginning of stopping for the one, and even with these increasing opportunites to minister on larger scales, this is still my heart and focus.  This campaign is to raise money for the next big transition of my life as I continue this journey with God and take advantage of several new opportunities to make tangible differences in the lives of individuals and communities around the world.

What Is The Transition?

There are two major factors in the transiton that has sparked this campagin:

1). My joining of the nonprofit, Beautiful Feet as a full time staff member and entering a life of living on monthly support.

2). Moving to Austin, Texas.

What I Need:

The main focus of this campaign is to gain monthly sponsors to partner with me as I go full time into a position with the nonprofit Beautiful Feet. If anyone is unable to dedicate to a month-to-month plan but would still like to give, one-time gifts to help with this season of transition is greatly appreciated as well! (Or, if it is of interest, you can do both!).

All donations ARE tax deductible.

Specifics That You Will Be Funding:

Domestic Expenses: Rent, food, phone bill, health insurance + more
International Expenses: Food, housing, transportation, travel insurance + more
Miscellaneous: Plane tickets & travel expenses, saving for a car, generous leadings + more
One-Time Donations: Move to Austin, Texas

Why Beautiful Feet?
Going on staff with Beautiful Feet has been a consideration of mine for many months. I began blogging for the nonprofit this past December as I was preparing to travel on their behalf for two months in Central America. Since returning to the States from this journey, I have become increasingly close to all of the Fort Myers staff and fallen in love with each of their hearts and the ever-growing dream of Beautiful Feet to live a lifestyle of compassion while proactively crushing extreme poverty around the world. Such a lifestyle has been a key focus of my life for several years, and so knowing that I would be part of a team that is equally passionate about this way of living has strongly drawn my heart.

Two months ago, I sat down to lunch with the organization’s founder, Ryan Jasper and told him of my desire to become more involved with the team. Since this conversation, I have been working heavily with all of the members of Beautiful Feet, supplying written content to their new website, serving at Surf Expo in Orlando, brainstorming ideas with the team for the future of Beautiful Feet and organizing the details of this campaign.

What Will You Be Doing Through Beautiful Feet?
As the Writing and Publication Manager for Beautiful Feet, I will be putting my passion and talent for writing to strong use as the written-voice of the nonprofit. As anyone that is a friend of mine on Facebook will already have seen, writing is one of my strongest passions and an avenue for which I can most clearly articulate myself. But unmentioned in my title, I will also be working many of the logistical sides for domestic relations and events within the United States and expect to do a great deal internationally as well.

Why Austin?
I first visited Austin in January of 2013. During this short trip, I quickly fell in love with the city and knew that I would one day live there. Almost a year to the day that I visited Austin, I began 60 Days Walking, a two month backpacking trip with Beautiful Feet. All through the journey, I kept feeling that God was hinting at a soon-to-come move from my 12 year home in Fort Myers, but it was not until I returned to the US that God began pouring out the many incredible confirmations for what I had been hearing from Him about Austin – and I have been preparing for this move ever since.

I have several amazing friends in Austin and a church that I expect to attend, but as far as reasons go – the only real and honest answer that I know to give is that I believe God has clearly laid this city on my heart as my next home. This is the third time in my life that I have felt such a clear pulling in my heart to travel somewhere with no forseen agenda or plan, and these first two experiences turned out to be some of the most incredible seasons of my life. And so despite some of the fears that try to rise when moving to a new city, the excitement I have from God’s faithfulness in previous transitions far exceeds every worry. The voice that has led me through all of my moves and travels in recent years is the same voice that is inviting me to begin a new life in Austin, Texas.

How Can We Stay In Touch?
If you are not already friends with me on Facebook, you can follow or friend request me there. You may also email me through the link that is availible on this page or follow a personal blog of mine that I am revamping as a way to update friends and family on life, decisions, testimonies and more. You can find that blog at lewiswritings.wordpress.com. Please stay in touch and if you have any questions or wish to talk in person about all that is going on, please don't be shy! I would love to catch up and answer any questions or concerns.

THANK YOU!
I wish that I knew a creative way to begin thanking each person that is financially supporting me, sharing the campaign or praying for my life and this season of transition but even my best writings could not articulate how honored I feel to be in the position that I find myself today. This is one of the craziest times of my life, and as I look at the opportunities in Beautiful Feet and the fast-approaching move to Austin, even in this excitement one of the biggest things on my heart is still family. I believe each one of you to be my brothers and sisters, and as your brother, I want to thank you for who you are and for everything that you do. Because with all of the joys, memories, struggles and giggles that this life brings, it is community and loving the people around us that truly makes life worth living.

Thank you,
Alex Lewis
