Firefighter in Need of Help!
Donation protected
My name is Barbara and I am trying to help my son Michael, and his family, through these difficult times, after he was injured on a rescue call on January 21st, 2024. On the 21st, at 4:03 p.m. the West Suburban Fire District was called to assist at a local farm with extracting a horse from a stall wall. During the extraction efforts, Mike was kicked in the groin by the horse and subsequently taken by ambulance to the hospital. Since then Michael has been in and out of the hospital four times, and is currently in Methodist Hospital working on pain management and doing physical therapy. His pain levels make it impossible to even do daily tasks and he is trying to regain the ability to fully return to work.
He has been unable to work since the time of the accident and is not expected to be able to return for the foreseeable future. This is causing unpredicted hardship on his family as he is the sole provider for them. While medical bills are covered by workmen's comp, there is limited compensation available for Mike and his family since the Fire Department is a Paid on Call job with sporadic engagement. With now limited income, we are asking for your help to ensure that Mike can sustain his family who are in trouble because of this one tragic accident. The bills need to be paid and he needs help. All money raised will be used to pay to keep Mike's and his family afloat.
