We rescued Roxy on December 10,2016. She seemed like a perfectly happy dog, but once we took her to her first vet appt we learned that she had an unusually low Heart rate of 30 beats per minute. After some episodes of fainting, we took her back and had a chest XRAY, ECG, and a heart monitor attached that she wore for 24 hours.
The results came back to 3rd degree AV block and without the installation of a pacemaker we only had about 6 months left with her, if we were that lucky.
I was crushed. She is such a fun, sweet, loving dog. You'd never know she had such a serious heart issue.
The emergency vet called me to tell me the details of the surgery: a $1,200 consultation followed by a $5,500- $6,500 cost for the surgery.
I was devastated. I had already spent $1,000 leading up to this, and I didn't know how I was going to save her. I felt hopeless and like a real failure. Current credit card debt, job uncertainty- basically what could go wrong all at once, was.
I refuse to give up and just tell her "I'm sorry but I can't help you". I don't have children- my dogs are my children. I'd usually never do a GFM, but I don't know what else to try.
I've scraped together everything I can from my savings and some avail. Credit and am left with about $2700- $3000 that's needed.
If you can help me and Roxy, please do. Any little bit would help us to get her the care that she needs and I'd love to pay you back as soon as the dust settles and I can.
