Hello, I'm Laís, daughter of Valéria Pratta. Unfortunately since Monday, May 29th our lives have been turned upside down. I was in Brazil, because my father died on the 22nd of May and I had to go there in a hurry. Also on Monday I received several calls saying that my mother was in an ambulance going to the hospital because she was not feeling well. Everyone who knows her knows how strong she is, and just asking for help already demonstrates how serious the problem was! She was taken to St. Joseph hospital where the first CT scan was performed and from there my nightmare began. She had blood in her brain.

She was transferred to St Michael's hospital

And she was diagnosed with an aneurysm. So far she has had a procedure to lower the pressure in her brain and surgery to repair the artery. She is still sedated and since then we have not been able to communicate with her, not even to bring her some comfort.

With all the events of an emergency trip to Brazil, an emergency return to Canada, including tickets for me and my grandmother, in addition to being psychologically shaken, the financial situation was also shaken.

In addition to treatment costs, with what is not covered by OHIP, Valeria is responsible for supporting my grandmother.

There are also rental costs and all the accounts that involve day to day. Me, being the mother of a baby and currently not working, I can't afford all these costs alone.

She will need a few months to recover, not being able to work and we will need my grandmother's help to take care of her when she returns home among all the other costs that this situation entails.

Olá, eu sou a Laís, filha da Valéria Pratta. Infelizmente desde segunda Feira, 29th de maio nossas vidas viraram de cabeça para baixo. Eu estava no Brasil, porque meu pai Faleceu no dia 22 de maio e eu precisei ir às pressas. Ainda na segunda feira recebi diversas ligações avisando que minha mãe estava em uma ambulância indo para o hospital porque ela não estava se sentindo bem. Todas as pessoas que conhecem ela sabe o quão forte ela é, e só de ter pedido socorro, já demonstra o quanto o problema era sério! Ela foi levada para o St. Joseph hospital onde foi feita a primeira tomografia e a partir disso começou o meu pesadelo. Ela estava com sangramento no crânio.

Ela foi transferida para o St Michael’s hospital

E foi diagnosticada com aneurisma. Até o momento ela fez um procedimento para diminuir a pressão no cérebro é uma cirurgia para reparar a artéria. Ela continua sedada e desde então não podemos nos comunicar com ela, nem para trazer algum conforto.

Com todos os acontecimentos de ida de emergência para o Brasil, retorno de emergência para o Canada, incluindo passagens para mim e para a minha avó, além de abalados psicologicamente, o financeiro também foi abalado.

Além de custos para o tratamento, com aquilo que não é coberto pelo OHIP, Valéria é responsável pelo sustento da minha avó.

E todas as contas que envolvem no dia a dia. Eu, por ser mãe de um bebê e atualmente não estar trabalhando, eu não consigo manter sozinha todos esses custos.

Ela precisará de alguns meses para se recuperar, sem poder trabalhar e precisaremos da ajuda da minha avó para cuidar dela quando ela voltar pra casa entre todos os outros custos que esta situação envolve.
